Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics Breaks Ground on New State-of-the-Art Facility in Chattanooga

The OrthoForum congratulates Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics on this exciting milestone and continued investment in expanding access to high-quality, physician-led MSK care. This new facility reflects the strength and growth of independent practices and their commitment to delivering coordinated, patient-centered care within their communities. We are proud to highlight CSMO’s leadership and dedication to innovation, access, and exceptional outcomes.

A Major Investment in Access and Growth

Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics (CSMO) recently celebrated a major milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony for its new 54,000-square-foot clinic and therapy facility on Tyner Road. The $22 million project underscores the organization’s continued growth and commitment to expanding access to high-quality orthopaedic care across the region.

The event brought together physicians, staff, community leaders, and partners to mark the beginning of construction on a space designed to enhance patient access and streamline care delivery.

Designed for a Seamless Patient Experience

The new facility will offer a comprehensive, integrated care model, including:

  • Expanded clinic capacity
  • Physical and occupational therapy services
  • Advanced imaging, including MRI and CT
  • A dedicated Urgent + Ortho Walk-In Clinic

By bringing these services together under one roof, CSMO aims to create a more efficient and convenient experience for patients—from diagnosis through recovery.

Community Leadership and Support

Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp joined CSMO leadership in recognizing the importance of continued healthcare investment in a rapidly growing community.

“This is an exciting moment not just for our organization, but for the patients and communities we serve,” said Becky Farmer, CEO of Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics. “This facility represents our commitment to meeting people where they are—providing faster access, more convenience, and a better overall experience. As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: delivering exceptional care that helps patients get back to the lives they love.”

Advancing Clinical Excellence

Medical Director Dr. Tim Ballard emphasized the impact the new facility will have on patient care delivery.

“This is about improving the way we care for patients from start to finish,” said Dr. Ballard. “By bringing together clinic visits, imaging, therapy, and urgent orthopaedic care in one location, we’re creating a more seamless experience. When patients can move quickly from diagnosis to treatment to recovery, it leads to better outcomes and a better overall experience.”

A Strong Foundation for the Future

Following remarks, attendees participated in a ceremonial beam signing, symbolizing the strong foundation and shared vision behind the project. The event concluded with group photos and continued celebration among attendees.

Construction is now underway, with the facility expected to open in early 2027. Once complete, it will further strengthen CSMO’s ability to serve patients throughout Chattanooga and the surrounding communities.

With more than 550 employees across the region, CSMO continues to play a vital role as both a healthcare provider and a major employer in the Chattanooga area.
